(More customer reviews)The chairs were very lightweight and seem to be performing pretty well so far.People have complimented me on their appearance.However, they're not quite as heavy duty and finished as I would have liked.The swivel doesn't reset, but stays in whatever position you leave it in, which is substandard in my opinion.Also, the finish is not lacquered, so I have no idea how long it will last.

One chair arrived; I called customer service (in the Phillipines!) and they told me to send back the chair and they'd send the set back to me. THEN, after many days of waiting, emails, and calls to the Phillipines, I was told that it's really only for one chair. Read the description... Does it not say SET OF TWO?!

Terrible customer service!! Very unhappy customer!!!!!!!

Constructed of solid wood with a chrome base, each barstool comes complete with chrome foot rest and an adjustable gas lift tested to operate at least 100,000 times! Measures about 13.5" wide by 16" deep and adjust from table to counter/bar height (27.25" to 35.75" total height or 23" to 31.5" for the seat height). The backrest rises 4.25" above the seat. Hillsdale Venus Adjustable Swivel Stools Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased 2, one of them didn't even made it to 7 months of use, by a 120lb female. There's a plastic part between the base and the shaft. This part fell down and is getting grinded with every swivel, producing black plastic shavings. The supposedly "limited" warranty, means YOU GET NO WARRANTY AT ALL, that's what the vendor basically told me. If I were you I would buy a cheaper barstool, that way when it breaks, you don't feel like an idiot for spending so much on a piece of junk.

(More customer reviews)The chairs look great, they aren't leather but everybody thinks they are when they see them. Also very happy with the quality of seat, pole/adjustment mechanism and foot. The seat is not padded but remains comfortable, the height adjustment is of good quality and does not seem to want to break or fail anytime soon. The foot is very heavy and gives the stool perfect stability.
I did not expect this quality at this price.

Amazon however needs to reed the writing on the boxes better before shipping. I ordered 3 black stools and got 1 black and 2 brown. I couldn't bother to send them back and make a fuss, but the black is certainly (IMHO) the nicest one.

Manhattan Pub Stool 31"H Seat Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished assembling 8 of these chairs, and I have to give them a top rating.The wood is hard and finished nicely.The vinyl used for the seats is heavy and durable, and looks like top grain leather.The stainless accents are a nice touch.The assembled chairs look like they cost a lot more.

Assembly does require power tools.I had to re-drill the pilot holes to a 9/32" diameter, because the pilot holes for the stretchers were so small, and the wood was so hard, that I could not drive the set screws in by hand with a screwdriver.After re-drilling the holes and using a small cordless drill, it was a piece of cake.I also used wood glue to secure the dowels of the stretchers to the legs.These chairs are SOLID!

I have performed a lot of flat-pack, do-it-yourself projects, and I can also say that everything fits together well.Nothing is off-center, skewed, drilled pooly, or anything else.This stuff fits together like it should.I give thumbs up to the manufacturer as well.

(More customer reviews)I like this counter stool, but one is enough. I bought 2 zuo modern black leather counter stools to go with it and it looks great. I would have given it 5 stars if the seat height could be adjusted...it doesn't work, luckily I needed counter height only.

FYI if you put it together, you cannot take it apart again, so make sure you want to keep it before you assemble.

The Bad:

1)Cheap fit and finish:The chrome trim that outlines the leather on the seat backs and seat is bubbled and where the two ends meet is a unfinished looking gap.
2)Heavy odor like mothballs for a week or so
3)Shipping was a problem and instead of receiving 2 chairs in one box, my order came with a chair missing from the box.Upon notifying the seller immediately I was asked to take pictures, grilled on shipping details and basically had the finger pointed at me for the incomplete
shipment I had received.In the end they sent me another chair but I was already a bit turned off.

Overall, my friends and I enjoy these chairs but you definitely get what you pay for.
