The top protective layer is stuck under the edges and the top is not a solid surface and bubbled everywhere--it will fovever need a table cloth over it to be used without embarassment.

(More customer reviews)This stool is essentially an enlarged bicycle seat.Contrary to the product description, there is NO back support.The company I work for (a large website named after a river) requires its fulfillment center employees with desk jobs to use these stools.Since I am short and my feet don't touch the floor, I have a specially made step stool on which to rest my feet.How's that for high-tech?These stools are a nightmare: they may serve a purpose, but it is NOT to sit at a computer for 10-12 hours a day.

Only problem during construction is the instructions have incorrect numbers for parts on a few of the initial drawings- part numbers for screws and washers are labelled wrong on the drawings, and it took awhile to figure out the correct parts they were indicating, a screw and washer, not 2 screws! However, once assembled, they look great and feel sturdy.

Took a little while to work out that you had to remove the cap on the top of the stand to make it raise up and down. I like the fact that it can lower to coffee table height or raise to bar height. (More customer reviews)I purchased 2, one of them didn't even made it to 7 months of use, by a 120lb female. There's a plastic part between the base and the shaft. This part fell down and is getting grinded with every swivel, producing black plastic shavings. The supposedly "limited" warranty, means YOU GET NO WARRANTY AT ALL, that's what the vendor basically told me. If I were you I would buy a cheaper barstool, that way when it breaks, you don't feel like an idiot for spending so much on a piece of junk.

(More customer reviews)The chairs look great, they aren't leather but everybody thinks they are when they see them. Also very happy with the quality of seat, pole/adjustment mechanism and foot. The seat is not padded but remains comfortable, the height adjustment is of good quality and does not seem to want to break or fail anytime soon. The foot is very heavy and gives the stool perfect stability.
I did not expect this quality at this price.

Amazon however needs to reed the writing on the boxes better before shipping. I ordered 3 black stools and got 1 black and 2 brown. I couldn't bother to send them back and make a fuss, but the black is certainly (IMHO) the nicest one.

I initially thought they might be diffeent based on photos, but once I received them I recognized the detail, they were the same as the other places except I paid only $109.00 plus $28.49 for shipping...and yes there were two stools as advertised. I figured for that price there would only be one stool and the price was advertised incorrectly.They match my deep cherry cabinets perfectly, the seats are nice and big (unlike stools I've seen in retail stores),the wood appears to be good quality, and the seat is even nicer than I thought (I was hoping there would be no shine and there wasn't). My husband did have to put them together, but if you have the proper tools it's a quick job. They look high end, but in actuality cost me less than $70 each with shipping costs.I couldn't get this price anywhere. Shipping was as promised...quick...I am very satisfied with this purchase for quality with a very small pricetag!

Manhattan Pub Stool 31"H Seat Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished assembling 8 of these chairs, and I have to give them a top rating.The wood is hard and finished nicely.The vinyl used for the seats is heavy and durable, and looks like top grain leather.The stainless accents are a nice touch.The assembled chairs look like they cost a lot more.

Assembly does require power tools.I had to re-drill the pilot holes to a 9/32" diameter, because the pilot holes for the stretchers were so small, and the wood was so hard, that I could not drive the set screws in by hand with a screwdriver.After re-drilling the holes and using a small cordless drill, it was a piece of cake.I also used wood glue to secure the dowels of the stretchers to the legs.These chairs are SOLID!

I have performed a lot of flat-pack, do-it-yourself projects, and I can also say that everything fits together well.Nothing is off-center, skewed, drilled pooly, or anything else.This stuff fits together like it should.I give thumbs up to the manufacturer as well.

Assembly is uncomplicated and requires only a Phillips screwdriver and provided allen wrench, maybe a hex nut driver to really tighten down the seats, but pliers or an adjustable wrench will do. The top is very slick, the seats are as comfortable as my custom pedestal bar stools and you just can't beat the low price.
I gave my room the malt shop look I intended, for much less than I expected.
