Only problem during construction is the instructions have incorrect numbers for parts on a few of the initial drawings- part numbers for screws and washers are labelled wrong on the drawings, and it took awhile to figure out the correct parts they were indicating, a screw and washer, not 2 screws! However, once assembled, they look great and feel sturdy.

(More customer reviews)This is a great looking and well built chair. The back is surprisingly comfortable for sitting back.

I purchased this for use with my counter-height table, which I use for a desk. After sitting for several days on a 29" stool I was rather shocked at the low height of this chair. The cushion squishes down 1-2 inches lower than the advertised height of the seat. After getting accustomed to the height I believe it is acceptable, probably even better for dining purposes though. If you like this style but have a higher surface consider the Hillsdale Delray Non Swivel Bar Stool instead.

Don't underestimate the pewter finish - the picture appears much more silver than the metal actually is.

Somewhat spendy, but I only needed one. Overall, satisfied with my purchase!

(More customer reviews)I found these stools on Overstock for $249.99 and Furniture on the Web for 234.99...could not believe the AMAZING price through Amazon. I initially thought they might be diffeent based on photos, but once I received them I recognized the detail, they were the same as the other places except I paid only $109.00 plus $28.49 for shipping...and yes there were two stools as advertised. I figured for that price there would only be one stool and the price was advertised incorrectly.They match my deep cherry cabinets perfectly, the seats are nice and big (unlike stools I've seen in retail stores),the wood appears to be good quality, and the seat is even nicer than I thought (I was hoping there would be no shine and there wasn't). My husband did have to put them together, but if you have the proper tools it's a quick job. They look high end, but in actuality cost me less than $70 each with shipping costs.I couldn't get this price anywhere. Shipping was as promised...quick...I am very satisfied with this purchase for quality with a very small pricetag!

My only complaint on the chairs is the finish. Every greasy-child-hand smudge is apparent. They have a glossy/satin like finish and every spec of food or lint can be seen across the room. So, if you are like me and don't get into scrubbing kitchen stools after every meal.. then make your husband.. because they are still worth the value. :D

(More customer reviews)I ordered 3 of these bar stools.The first 2 were VERY easy to put together.By myself in about 30 minutes.The 3rd stool was difficult, the holes were not drilled correctly so my husband had to take it to his shop and drill holes and then thread them.If you didn't have the tools you'd have to send it back.
These are comfortable sturdy stools.

One of the stools had defective front legs so that the slots for the front stretcher and the side stretchers were reversed. This is a serious defect and it was my hope that Linon would send me a set of front legs that were properly manufactured. Linon will not help. After sending an email detailing the problem and asking for the correct part, I was told "Please contact the retailer for an exchange or refund." The cost of shipping to return this stool to Amazon would be more than half the original cost and I would have no way of knowing if the replacement would also be defective. I am left with a defective product and a company that seems uninterested in providing a good product. In my opinion, this is very poor customer service.

(More customer reviews)Updated 8/18/09 -- should be TWO STARS: I purchased this Set of 2 Chrome Metal SWIVEL BAR STOOLS barstools - Black seat and a Bar Table in 50's Retro Nostalgic Soda Fountain Style with Chrome Plating and Black Formica Table Top for a covered balcony. There is a sad lack of reasonably priced and attractive pub-height balcony furniture on the market, and this seemed to be a good option.

DIY assembly was relatively straightforward and quick. Only a screwdriver is needed, as allen keys are provided for the main attachment screws. The completed chairs are quite sturdy and comfortable. The swivel feature is a welcome and functional addition.

Together with the table, they are a pretty good looking and functional balcony or pub-height small dining set for two.

Inspection of the components of the chairs reveals that the quality of the manufactured pieces is mid-level to poor, with ugly welds, inconsistent appearance of the tubing (rough marks, etc.) and gaping uneven clearances between the back supports and chair seat tube base.

Unfortunately, I can't reduce the number of stars given in my initial review. If I could I'd drop these to a TWO-STAR product. Here's why.

After only a few days on the balcony the cheap steel and chrome plating is rusting and spotting. Yes, I realize that these chairs were not manufactured for outdoor use. However, if they rust quickly outdoors they will also rust indoors -- even if they do so slower. I would recommend that, if you are expect these chairs to look reasonably good for any length of time, you spray it with a clear sealer and/or rust-proofer before exposing it to the environment. I will do the same after giving them a quick polish. I'm sure I'll end up painting them in the not too-distant future.

Bottom line: Inexpensive bar stools of barely adequate quality.
